Meet the Charities
Sightsavers work tirelessly to prevent causes of avoidable blindness, and champion disability inclusion. Our work spans across Africa and Asia, where we collaborate with governments, communities, and health systems to strengthen eye care services and tackle neglected diseases. We are a trusted force for good, known for our evidence-based approach, commitment to equity, and ability to deliver sustainable change.
We work together with government ministries to embed sustainable change. In India, our partnerships with state and national health authorities have helped integrate eye health into government systems, including school health programmes and primary healthcare. In Ghana, we are developing inclusive child eye health initiatives in partnership with local government and educational authorities, supported by rigorous monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Sightsavers is also a leader in strategic alliances. We co-chair the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness Climate Action Working Group, and our partnership with the International Disability Alliance and leadership within the Inclusive Futures consortium further demonstrate our commitment to rights-based, locally led development.

Sightsavers envisions a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes and where people with visual impairments and disabilities can participate equally in society. The organisation works across more than 30 countries in Africa and Asia to prevent blindness, fight neglected tropical diseases, and promote disability inclusion. It partners with governments and local organisations to deliver eye health services, distribute treatments, and advocate for inclusive education and employment. Sightsavers is committed to sustainability, transparency, and high impact programming, with over 9 million cataract operations and 1.85 billion treatments delivered to date. Our mission is rooted in dignity, equality, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy, independent life.
