Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, and supported; yet, around the world, one in ten children grows up without parental care. For them, childhood can become about survival rather than belonging.
We're here to change that.
We support children and young people who don't have, or are at risk of losing, parental care to grow up in safe, loving homes. Across more than 130 countries, we work alongside families and communities to prevent separation, provide quality care and help young people build brighter futures.
Mina loves to dance barefoot in her garden, much to the delight of her neighbours. There was a time when everything felt like it was falling apart. Her mum was working three jobs, but it still wasn't enough. They moved often; Mina stopped going to school, and some days they only had one meal. When her mum began to believe Mina would be better off without her, they met Deepa from SOS Children's Villages. Deepa didn't take Mina away - she brought help. She supported Mina's mum to start a small food business, helped Mina return to school, and most importantly, helped them stay together.
Mina’s mum no longer feels so alone, and Mina rests easily with a full tummy at night, knowing her and her mum are safe and together.
Because when a child is safe, loved and respected, they can thrive – not just survive.
At SOS Children’s Villages, we envision a world where every child belongs to a family and grows with love, respect and security.
We believe that a child who feels safe, loved and respected has the power to change the world, and so we strive to break the cycle of child neglect, abuse, and exploitation.
We exist to ensure that every child and young person grows up with healthy relationships and the human connections they need to become their strongest selves.
